  • Sar Pass is in Parvati Valley of Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh. Sar, in local dialect, means a lake. It is one of the most popular trails in Pir Panjal trail. The valley is surrounded by snow clad mountains, perennial streams, waterfalls and lush green forests. It is a heaven for any adventurous traveller and nature lovers. It is recommended that kasol be made the base camp, a pleasant place, with temperate climate. This trek is recommended for beginners and moderate level trekkers.

    The technical details are; it is at the altitude of 4100 m. It routes through a series of scenic forests with steep rocky terrain and long snow patches. Trek routes originates from Kasol to Grahan to Min thack to Biskeri to Barshaini. Pick up point is Patlikuhal, Manali.

  • Day 1

    Registration and Orientation at kasol

    All the participants have to report at Kasol in morning. Take hotel/homestay at overnight stay. Trekking will commence next day at 7 am. This will be a good time to get acclimatized with environment. Orientation will be given on this day.

    Day 2

    The trek starts from kasol

    Trek will commence at 7 am. The trek starts from center of kasol and keeps left to the Grahannalah. It is aeasy trail. The trail consists of pine forests. Much of a distance can be covered in couple of hours. After graham nalah the trail becomes rocky and climbing uphill, away from right bank of river. After an hour of steep climb one reaches the village of grahan, situated at the top. Overnight stay at the Grahan.

    Day 3

    Grahan to Rattapani

    In the morning we climb to north of camping ground at graham. Villagers can be seen using this path. After walking for a while one can see Min thack Nagaru and Star top on the mountain right. The trail also becomes steeper and leads n wood. Here path is confusing at some places. After crossing the forest we arrive to Rattapani. Overnight stay at rattapani.

    Day 4

    Nagaru to Biskeri Thach via Sar Pass

    Next day we need to start early as the climb is steep and through snow. Sar Pass and the elevated peaks of the Tosh valley are visible. As one reaches the top the view is just breath taking. After that we need to slide which fun and safe. The slide is around a kilometer to a gentler slope of valley. We will then continue the trek through some dense rhododendron bushes towards Biskeri Thach campsite. Overnight stay in tents at Biskeri Thach.

    Day 5

    Nagaru to Biskeri Thach via Sar Pass ( 6-8 hours)

    Next day we have to make an early start, as the climb is steep through the snow. Sar pass and the elevated peaks of the Tosh valley are now visible. As one reaches the top, the view is exhilarating. After that the slide is the most fun and completely safe as long as some precautions are taken. The slide takes one as far as a kilometre to a gentler slope of the valley. Valley arrives after walking for an hour from Sar Pass. We will then continue the trek through some dense rhododendron bushes towards Biskeri Thach campsite. Overnight stay in tents at Biskeri Thach.

    Day 6

    Biskeri Thach to Barshaini and drive back to Rumsu base camp ( 4-5 hours) Return

    Biskeri presents a sublime view of the pine forests, the majestic mountains and the lovely grasslands. From Biskeri we will descend towards Pulga village. The descend is easy and takes around 4-5 hours to reach Pulga. From Pulga we will continue to descend to cross Parvati river and then climb to reach village Barshaini. Jeep ride to Kasol base camp to Kasol.
